Love in the Afternoon (1957)

£675.00Price
  • POSTER TYPE

    One-Sheet

    27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]

  • POSTER CONDITION & GRADING

Good to Very Good, linen backed. Prior to restoration and linen backing the poster was in quite fragile condition, with paper loss at the crossfolds, some separation and yellowing in the white areas. The poster was extensively cleaned prior to careful restoration to the folds and border areas and now displays very well, but you can still see signs of the restoration work. However, the vast majority of collectors would be very happy to hang this great poster on their wall!

  • DIRECTOR

    WILDER, Billy

  • POSTER TAGLINE & DESCRIPTION

Poster artist: Saul Bass. "Love is a game any number can play...especially in the afternoon..."; "In any other city...at any other time...the American millionaire would have known she was only pretending to be as experienced as he was... this was Paris...in April...in the afternoon!". A middle-aged playboy (Gary Cooper) becomes fascinated by the daughter (Audrey Hepburn at her most delightful) of a private detective (Maurice Chevalier) who has been hired to entrap him with the wife of a client. The iconic poster design by Saul Bass, with it's subtle simplicity and colourful typset is perfectly attuned to the tone of Billy Wilder's underrated 1957 classic.
