Sorry, Wrong Number (1948)

£210.00Price
  • POSTER TYPE

    Belgian

    14.25" x 18.75" (36 x 48 cm)

  • POSTER CONDITION & GRADING

Good to Very Good, linen-backed and restored by Flicks Film Posters. Prior to linen-backing, the poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). There were some creases scattered throughout the poster from it being oddly folded at one time. The poster was well backed and displays well!

  • DIRECTOR

    LITVAK, Anatole

  • POSTER TAGLINE & DESCRIPTION

While on the telephone, an invalid woman overhears what she thinks is a murder plot and attempts to prevent it. Barbara Stanwyck is on top form as the bed bound victim of her husband's (Burt Lancaster) murderous plot to have her killed. Director Anatole Litvak ramps up the suspense with classy flashbacks and edgy, chiaroscuro compositions. This ace Belgian poster is the best art available on this title, referenced in Eddy Muller's definitive book The Art of Noir, with the silhouette of the shadowy hand on the telephone perfectly conveying the (justifiably!) paranoid fears of Stanwyck's character.
