A Coast Guardsman suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress (Robert Ryan) becomes involved with a beautiful and enigmatic seductress (Joan Bennett) married to a blind painter (Charles Bickford). The great French director Jean Renoir's period in Hollywood was generally a troubled one, but he still made his mark. This moody, atmospheric and visually superb film noir may well have been the high point of his American work yet sadly it's little known. This great RKO one sheet captures the strange mood of the film.
