Driver, The (1978)
POSTER TYPE
One Sheet
27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]
POSTER CONDITION & GRADING
Very Good, linen backed. Prior to linen backing there were smudges in the title area at lower right as well as minor creases and scuffs throughout the poster (more so along the foldlines); tiny separation in the top and bottom crossfolds. This poster was in very good condition prior to linen backing and no restoration was required and it now displays superbly. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet was personally autographed (signed) by actor Bruce Dern! The poster was consigned by a man who worked in the movies and who obtained some signatures in person from actors he worked with!
DIRECTOR
HILL, Walter
POSTER TAGLINE & DESCRIPTION
Poster Artist: M. Daily. "To break The Driver, the cop was willing to break the law". Walter Hill's superb urban thriller cemented his reputation as a top action film director, with the stunning car chase sequences counter balanced by the compelling story of ace getaway driver O'Neal doggedly pursued by obsessive cop Dern. Influenced by Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Samourai and itself a huge influence on Nicholas Winding Refn's 2011 film Drive.
